A tree I was, she had a lighter in the hand
Boys, they burn brighter in their twenties
With the years I hope she tries to understand

Be a good kid, you shut up and watch the show
The teacher’s choir almighty
It sings to you all the things you need to know
I wasn’t ready

See the sharks controlling the undertow
And making the waves I’m riding
I’ve been thinking about my life above the law
The consequences
They had a power over me

I’m not sure if I get it right
Was it something I said, was it something I tried
I’m beginning to believe you started a fight on purpose
What a strange feeling to be alone
I’m not here to get it wrong
Is it something I want, is it something I don’t
I’m beginning to forget our starting point on purpose
What a strange feeling to be lost

Syd Matters is a musician from France. His real name is Jonathan Morali, but Syd Matters is a pseudonym which comes from slight modification of two members of Pink Floyd : Syd Barrett and Roger Waters.

His first album, A Whisper and a Sigh was recorded during the summer of 2002. He won the cqfd prize in 2003, rewarding the best french revelation. After this album was released, he constructed a new four piece band. In April 2005 he released his second album Someday We will Foresee Obstacles. It is a mixture of folk and of melancholic pop, his music combines slow melodys with acoustic instruments, it does not however forget its roots of electronic music.

Perhaps one of his most popular American songs is "To All Of You" which was featured in the senior prom episode of the FOX teenage drama the O.C.

His third album, 'Ghost Days', was released on 18 January 2008. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
